Painting over Wall Paper

Wall paper isn't mouse click away . thing of the over and above. Many people are still using it in spite of the ease of a quick paint job. In many cases wall paper was added where wall paper already existed creating a dilemma for the next person that comes along and wants to make renovations, specifically painting.
In general it's best to remove wall paper before painting. However, there are times when painting over wall paper is a necessity, or at least preferable. Such a scenario would occur if a small number of different layers of wall paper were layered one over the other or if perhaps the paper was pasted in such a method in which removing it will damage the underlying wall whiteboard. This can occur if the wall board is something other than plaster.
Either way, the procedure is not as smooth as just painting a normal wall and takes it may not be steps.
What you'll need: oil-based primer, oil or water based paint, brushes, paint tray, putty knife, scraper, roller, drywall putty.
Steps:
NOTE: For all steps use extra patience and caution so your end result comes out as well as neat. Ok, first cut off any loose paper and when necessary, paste down edges.
Use wall paper paste or compound to smoothen out any crevices or areas where creases exist.
Using a roller prime with high quality oil-based primer directly over the standard paper. Make sure to ventilate the room well as oil-based paint has very harsh fumes.
After it dries check every inch for protrusions or seem lines. Maybe you have pealing occur. If found remove paper, apply drywall putty and smoothen with a putty knife.
Once dry, sand (preferably with a sanding sponge) those areas making them level with the remainder of the wall. Consideration: before you place final coats on realize you may never fully hide the texture in the wall paper. If you would like you could create textures of quite on the wall if you experience the paper is for you to show through.
At this point some professionals will caulk around the perimeters to guarantee the paper doesn't curl when damp from more paint.
Use good quality paint for closing coats. You will most likely do two coats to get the best results.
